camp, please send it to mdasaro@yahoo.com.Junior Nationals Qualifiers are through the
Pacific Coast Sectionals (PCC's) on May
10 - 11, not at the Division Qualifiers. However, the team events at the PCC's
are NOT qualifiers. Teams are qualified for
Summer National team events at the division qualifiers.

Tournament Clarifications
A big 'Thank You' to Janet Gegan for preparing this helpful clarification of important upcoming tournaments:
Hello everyone,
This year the Summer Nationals are in San Jose. I have been
receiving lots of questions as to the qualification process and the
upcoming Sr/Jr PCC's and the Western SYC. I have tried to simplify
information about upcoming qualifiers as much as possible yet cover all
of the age groups. I hope this helps.
To greatly simplify the qualification paths for Summer Nationals:
For U19/Jr, U16/Cdt, or Y14, if you are on the national points list
you are qualified.
For Y14, if you get points at the SYC or the April NAC, you are
qualified.
For Y12 and Y10, if you have attended an RYC or SYC this season you
are qualified.
Otherwise:
The divisions hold the Summer Nationals (SN) Qualifiers for Div II/III,
Div 1/SR/U19 teams, Y14 and U16.

The Pacific Coast Section holds the Junior Pacific Coast
Championships (Jr PCC's) which are the U19 SN qualifiers and the Senior
Pacific Coast Championships (Sr. PCC's) which are the Div IA/Vets SN
qualifiers.

For the last three years the Jr PCC's have been combined with an SYC
in March and the Sr. PCC's and section team championships have been in
May in Las Vegas.
This year the Jr PCC's will be combined with the Sr. PCC's in
Pasadena in May. The Western SYC is in March in San Jose. (There will be
no cadet events at the SYC in San Jose.)
Don't forget to check birth year eligibility for Summer Nationals. It
does not matter what month you were born. Eligibility is determined by
birth year.

Birth year eligibility changes for U19 and U16 events for Summer
Nationals because the U19/Jr and U16/Cadet season ends with the Jr/Cdt
World Championships in April and begins with Summer Nationals.
The Y14, Y12 and Y10 events at Summer Nationals are the end of the
youth season. Birth years change with the start of the USFA season on
August 1.

Welcome everyone to another season of Southern California Fencing. I along with my other board members hope this will be the best season ever. And we will do our best to help make it so.
In the past, there have been problems with scheduling, tournament times, and organization issues. These will be high on our priority list of things to address. Unfortunately I cannot guarantee success, but we will try to put new and innovative plans in place. And if something doesn’t work, we’ll change it until it does.
You’ll notice a few changes right away.

We are eager to hear your feedback. Let us know if what we are doing is positive or if there is a change you would like to see implemented. Remember, it is your division. Be active in it. We would like any help from parents and coaches to insure the smooth running of tournaments. Don’t be afraid to speak up. We’ll listen and do our best to adapt.
